A Product of No Sleep

First off, let me show you where we started:

Yep, there she is, in all her boring/ugly glory.  That is what the fireplace/mantle looked like when we first moved in.  Not horrible, but SO not fabulous.  We painted the brown, replaced the ugly grey tile with tumbled travertine and called it good... until one crazy morning.  The hubs couldn't sleep and got up at 6:00 AM.  I however could sleep.  When I wondered downstairs at around 8:00 AM, this is what I found:

Yep, it's gone.  He decided he hated the old mantle and just ripped it off the wall hahaha.  So, after a long day of replacing what he tore down:

This is what we ended up with:

I have to say... I LOVE how it turned out!  I am so glad he couldn't sleep:)

Thriftatstic!!

I think my new favorite color combo might be grey and coral.  Spring time makes me want to use these colors ALL over!  So, in an effort to springy up the shop I am going to be adding it here and there.  I found this little tool tote at the Habitat for Humanity ReStore.  Have you guys been to one???  It is my own personal heaven!!  Not only can you get cabinets, toilets, and sinks, but you can get old doors, screens, and even furniture.  I could spend DAYS there and it is so stinkin cheap!

I found this old wooden tote and decided I needed it.  Sorry, I forgot to take a before... OOPSIE.  I hope you enjoy the after though!

I just painted the whole thing grey and sanded it a bit to give it that "worn" look.  Then I cut up an old table cloth I got at one of our estate sales to make the inside a little softer and springy.  It sort of makes me smile... so does this picture:

Such a sweet little picture... don't judge the mess:)

Burlap Sacks + Dining Chairs =

When we moved into our house in Buena Vista my MIL gave us this SWEET vintage dining set.  It was a table, chairs, buffet, and china cabinet.  It looked amazing in our huge dining room with a fireplace and all.  Well, when I originally upholstered these in a creamy white we had no children.  We also rarely used these chairs since we also had an eat in kitchen.  Now that we moved to Littleton and no longer have a huge formal dining room these chairs are used everyday.  The white has turned gross.  Like really,  really, REALLY gross.  See:

I decided it was time to reupholster them in something a little more... "Luci friendly".  So I used those burlap grain sacks I was telling you about from Murdoch's.

I absolutely LOVE the less formal look of these new chairs!  What do you think?

I love the rustic look and the fact that they are going to hide the grunge a whole LOT better!

Cheers:)

Chalk Board Flower Pots

It is SPRING!!! Ok, it did snow here last week, but that's not all that uncommon for us here in Colorado.  I thought it would be fun to transform some of those old flower pots laying around into something pretty and fun!

I still have a little bit of chalkboard paint left so I figured... why not!

Then I just added a little "Traci" touch, and viola!

They make me feel like spring is really here!!  Our lilacs are blooming, and the dandelions are trying to take over our lawn.  Guess that's a fight I will have to battle another day.  Happy Spring everyone!

Burlap and Rope

My mom showed up the other day with tons of AWESOME junk from estate sales and thrift stores.  This happens once in a while and it is my version of winning the lotto!  There were cute tables, an amazing trunk, a bunch of cute vintage napkins, and this little basket.  I don't know why, but this thing made me happy:)  It was just a long red basket but after I added some burlap to the inside and rope to the handle it became an adorable little rustic basket.

This baby sold within 1 day of being in my store!  I guess someone else loved it as much as I did.

So, now that the stash in my garage has been replenished I guess I need to get to work.  It's amazing what a little burlap and rope can do to a plane old basket.

Cheers!

The Dented Lampshade as of Late

So, now that I have gotten over my fear of showing off the shop on my blog I wanted to give you all a little peak into some fun new updates at the store.  I love rearranging and since we are constantly turning over furniture I get to rearrange on a monthly, sometimes weekly basis.  You will probably see some pieces you recognize:)

Isn't this vintage chalk board to die for!  I almost kept it for myself:)

I bet you recognize this beauty:)

This table is my very first furniture redo ever!  Seriously people... the first.  My friend Rachelle (and old partner in my space) did it a few years ago.  When I moved out of my house in Buena Vista I held on to it in hopes that I would find a perfect spot for it.  Sadly, 2 houses later, it still has no place so I brought it to the store.  The coolest part is that it has a really thick coating on the top.  Someday I will do a tutorial on how to do this.  It was surprisingly easy!

Does anyone need a mustache necklace???  LOVE them!

Chicken wire earring display.  Such a fun way to display jewelry!

So that's it.  A little peak into my happy place:)  Hope you all enjoyed!  Happy hump day.
