Ok, I will post in 2 separate posts... this is a long story.
Let me start by bringing you back to this. The day after filming, this was how I felt.
Then, let's start from the beginning. A few months ago I got an email from an old friend (thanks Lara!) tipping me off to a great new show that was having casting calls. She was all prego so she wasn't going to be able to try out, so she sent me an email letting me know. I thought, well, why the heck not! This all happened right as I quit my job in insurance, opened my own store, AND started working for an estate sale company, so I figured it fit right into my new crazy life.
I sent the lady an email explaining who I was and what I do and attached some pictures of my projects. After a month went by with no word I just figured that was it... obviously I didn't make it. Well, out of the blue one day I got an email back saying they were interested and wanted a casting video. The original plan was to have my hubby come on as my assistant but they told me they had a lot of husband/wife duos and wanted to know if I had anyone else that would be my assistant. I happen to have the handiest father around, so of course I called him and BEGGED relentlessly until he agreed. He is not exactly the type to go on a reality show.
Next step... casting video. I just had my tech savvy bro-in-law pull out his camera and go for it... Thanks Will!
Several emails and calls later I finally got the call that I was in! I had officially been selected... the kicker, I couldn't tell a single soul! I had to sign a bunch of stuff saying that I wouldn't say anything. It was KILLING me not to spill my guts!
After a couple months of phone calls from the producers, outfit selections, and biting all of my nails off, the day finally came. My dad and I got on a flight to L.A. We were there for a total of 4 days... and I can't tell you what a stressful 4 days it was! I will leave you there until Friday. The rest is crazy... filming, photos, Tori Spelling, AHHHH so much in just a few days!
Just a couple of pics of my dad and I the day we got to L.A. It took a few drinks to calm our nerves:)
I will continue this on Friday... you know, the stuff you really want to know:)
Cute video. I can see why they picked you for the show. What a fun experience, even if it didn't work out quite the way you'd hoped.
ReplyDeleteHahahahaaha!! That is GREAT. I love the Grouch! Perfect song.
ReplyDeleteYou my friend, are a BA!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! I can't wait to read the rest. I thought your tennis racket was totally and completely creative and was bummed that you were out.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I loved doing it, even if I got off first:)
DeleteI found your blog after watching the show. You were totally robbed! Your bag was awesome and at least you finished! Anyway, I live near Denver and would like to know which "store" you are always referring to? I want to shop there! :)
ReplyDeleteHey Melissa, you are too sweet:) I was pretty proud I finished, Oh well. I have a store called The Dented Lampshade. It is upstairs in The Barn in Castle Rock. 300 4th St. Come by any time! Let me know when you will be there so I can plan to be there.
DeleteYou are so precious! I watched the show last night and my friend Lynette (Sweet Posy Dreams) told me about your blog. I thought you did great on the show. I thought the tennis racket on the bottom of your duffle bag was genius! Loved it!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear the rest of the story. I love Tori Spelling. Hope she was as wonderful in person.
Wow- I recorded Craft Wars and am sitting here watching it now. So exciting to come across another Colorado blogger. It's wonderful to see you with your dad on the show. Congratulations on such a fantastic effort!

I so I didn't watch the show last night, I was a little distracted with The Springs burning (my mom and sisters live down there) but I'm making up for lost time tonight! As soon as your intro came on and I saw you were in Littleton, I got a little excited. I'm always on the lookout for creative peeps around me to follow, or perhaps Internet stalk. I'm not too far, over near Park Meadows. Basically I'm your most recent follower and excited to 'meet' you.
