80's Nightmare to Shabby Delight!

My friend/Luci's baby sitter had a predicament. Her ex husband was going to come and pick up all of his old furniture that she was using. This included a really cute hutch she had in her dining room that she kept cook books and kids art stuff in. So, I came up with the idea that she would go shopping in my garage. (Let me tell you, if you dig deep there are some treasures in there!) After a little shopping trip we decided that this hutch would be a perfect replacement:

One problem... It was ugly... but have we ever let that stop us before???? Heck no!

So, basically I did the exact same thing I did in the epic failure of a pantry I did a few weeks ago.  I just started painting and not caring about drips or anything.  Then I just started sanding.  This might be my new favorite technique.  I mean, there are no rules (and we all know how bad I am at following rules).  Basically you just paint, paint, paint, then sand, sand, sand.

I am so excited to move this awesome 80's-nightmare-turned-shabby-delight into Danne's house!

Oh, and Luci helped:)  She just followed me around with her screw driver and pretended to work.  It made me so happy.  I think if I play my cards right now, I might have a little helper for some time to come!
