30 is the new... 30

I just wanted to take a moment to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my amazing sister.  30 is a big number... just kidding Shena:)  You seriously only look 29!

You know I love you!

As kids you taught me so much.

You beat me up... which taught me how to be tough.
I stole your cloths... which lead to you beating me up... which taught me my awesome sense of style.
You gave me my first ride, my first beer, and my first high school party... which taught me, well, not a lot but it was sure fun.

As adults, you introduced me to my husband and I was there the day you met yours.  You challenged me to branch out and see the world.  You were my maid of honor, medical adviser, decorator, and best friend.  I was there at the birth of your child and you were there at the birth of mine (and even stood up to the mean nurse for me when I needed it).  Whenever we would fight when we were young mom and dad used to say, "You better be nice to each other.   She will be your best friend one day."  Man I hate it when they are right!

I am so glad you are my big sis!  Let me know how 30 feels... cause I wouldn't know;)

Happy birthday old lady!

Stripes of Pink

I have been loving stripes now that I discovered how easy it is!  Check out my post here on how to make an easy striped table.

Although miss Luci Rae is only 16 months old, I have already been dreaming up what her big girl room will look like.  I decided to practice a few different ideas in the mean time, and just sell them in the store until I am ready to make the jump from her baby room to her toddler room.  This desk gave me the perfect opportunity to try out some fun pink and funky design.  I am not sure I will be using this color in her future room but I do love how it turned out!

It started out pretty cute actually.  It just had a lot of dirt and chips to be fixed.

I also wanted to do a chair to go with it, so one these little guys got a face lift too.

I did a layer of white on top, then taped it off and sprayed the rest pink.  What do you think?

(no judging the trash or the crappy car in the background haha.)

And here she is in my shop.  I love that it is a corner desk.  It is such a space saver!

Hope you all liked this super girly transformation!  Have a happy week.

Ring Storage/Display

When coming up with ideas for displaying my jewelry at the store I came across some awesome ideas.  Like using the end of a rake for necklaces or using a screen on a frame like this for earrings.  But, for rings I came up with another idea:

I

I just rolled up two sheets of music and glued them in place.  See:

I love the look.  I think I will even burn the edges to make it look more worn.  I ended up keeping this display and using it for my own personal rings.  I used a candle stick to display the rings at the store... Some things you just have to keep for yourself!  Hope you have enjoyed this little AH HA! moment:)

Yep, It's Another Side Table!

One of my weaknesses... after chairs of course... is side/end tables.  What is it, a side table or an end table... I guess I never really know.  I'm pretty sure I say side.   ANYWHO, I like to redo them because they are big enough to make an impact but small enough that I don't get bored half way through.  Have I mentioned that I love instant gratification???

Well, let me show you this little guy's transformation:

I love this table!  It had so much potential... and I am ashamed to say that I have been meaning to redo this beauty for almost 3 years now... EEEEK.  It has moved to 3 different houses and I finally decided the day had come.  So, I dragged it out of the basement and into the garage for a good old fashioned color treatment.

What do you think???

I had the fabric left over from my chair redo earlier this month.  Hope you enjoyed another little side table redo.  I know I sure did!

Love Birds

Hey there peeps! Since I have been back from the Bahamas I have been on super craft mode to try and catch up from a week off. Gotta keep the store stocked after all:) This was a simple little craft I did that I thought would be a cute valentine's day gift. They are my burlap love birds... and they sort of make me happy:)

What is everyone else making for V-Day??  I have seen some really cute projects out there in blog land.  Doubt I will have time to do any of them, but they are fun to follow!

Hope you all have a happy Monday.

Thrifting Ninja

Thrift-Store

Mandi over at Vintage Revivals recently did a post on the Top 5 Thrift Shop Must Haves and I had to laugh.  Although, I don't quite consider myself a thrifting ninja I would say I at least have my brown belt.  You should check out this post she did on thrifting.  Love it.  Just in case you are wondering my top 5 are as follows:

1: Chairs
2: Mirrors
3: Baskets
4: Side Tables
5: Random crap that makes me smile

If thrifting was an art Mandi would be Picasso.

Have a wonderful day!

Bahama Mama

Love me some Bahamas. I spent the last week in Hope Town with my hubs, Luci, my parents, my sister, her husband, and her little lady. Other then some bad weather at first and a seriously long flight with a 15 month old... have you ever flown with a 15 month old????... the trip was perfect.  I will spare you all the silly stories and just show you what you all missed out on... try not to be too jealous:)

Amazing!  Other then almost getting washed out to sea... seriously, no joke, washed out with the tide, and rescued by a nice man and his girlfriend... and a small fight with some coral that I definitively lost, the trip was a well needed break from reality.  We had no cell service and no internet service, so this week was all about time with family.  I didn't even touch a blow dryer, hair straightener or one bit of mascara.  I even found time to nap in a hammock.  Sigh, back to reality.
